College of Business and Economics, Boise State University, Boise Idaho

Pattern language for a 100,000 square foot higher education building describing interior relationships, exterior environments and the relationships between the interior and the exterior of the building. Patterns ranged from large scale issues important to the University president such as the “gateway to the University”, smaller scale issues relating to the placement and design of the trading room and the EMBA “board room terrace.” The process was used with a 30 member user group composed of the Dean, Business school faculty, donors, community business leaders, college staff, the Campus Architect, Department of Public Works and the design team to build consensus prior to showing any schematic designs and to evaluate schematic designs as they were presented.
